Handwashing/Dinner
Grades K-8 Session 1 & 2
Transition time that promotes healthy habits and increases students’ knowledge of nutrition on how to eat well and promote healthy eating habits, and help children stay strong, healthy and active.

Turnt Up
Grades K-8 Session 1 & 2
Students will participate in a variety of age-level group challenges, games, and cooperative tasks that encourage trust, and creativity.
Held: Th 4:20-5:10 p.m.

Girl Scouts
Grades K-8 Session 1 & 2
Girl Scouts is a leadership development organization dedicated to empowering girls in grades K-8. Through engaging programs, hands-on activities, and community involvement, Girl Scouts helps young girls build courage, confidence, and character as they become leaders who make the world a better place.
Held: W 4:20-5:10 p.m.

Heart of Worship Dance
Grades K-8 Session 1 & 2
Heart of Worship Dance Studio offers instruction in ballet, liturgical dance, and hip-hop dance styles.
Held: M 4:20-5:10 p.m.

Time To Move
Grades K-8 Session 1 & 2
Through structured exercises, games, and movement-based activities, students will develop strength, coordination, and endurance while learning the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.

No 2 Stripes Alike
Grades K-8
No 2 Stripes Alike offers lessons in zoology, including live animal handling, ecology and biology. Students will learn about animal behavior and habitat.
Held: Tu 5:10-6:00 p.m.

Yoga Class
Grades K-8 Session 1 & 2
Students will learn the basics of yoga, including safe stretching and breathing exercises.
Held: Th 5:10-6:00 p.m.

Mindfulness
Grades K-8 Session 1 & 2
A variety of mindfulness-based programs are increasingly being used in schools to help support and improve students’ mental, emotional and behavioral health.

Storytelling
Grades K-8 Session 1 & 2 Storytelling offers numerous benefits, including enhancing communication skills, fostering emotional intelligence, promoting cultural understanding, and improving memory retention.

Reading Rangers
Grades K-1 Sessions 1 & 2
Reading intervention; literacy and skill building to improve grade level reading using strategies such as lessons on individual tablets, reading curriculum, parent and family engagement activities and more.

181 Movement
Grades 6-8 Session 1 & 2
181 Team Movement uses challenging activities and personal evaluation as opportunities for growth, learning and reflection.
Held: Tu 4:20-5:10 p.m.

Robotics
Grades 6-8 Session 1 & 2
Robotics is a program where students learn how to program and build robots and then showcase their skills in competitions against other schools.
Held: M, W 4:20-5:10 p.m.

Dismissal
Grades K-8 Session 1 & 2
All grades meet in the lower school gym for dismissal, where they have a snack and reflect on their day.

FIELD TRIPS

Sloan Museum of Discovery Grades K-8
Feb. 26
A fun and educational trip in our own hometown! Sloan offers hands-on science, local and Michigan history, and a maker’s space.

Cranbrook Institute of Science Grades K-8
Mar.12
The museum features sixteen permanent galleries, an outdoor science garden, nature trails, and specialized venues, such as the Acheson Planetarium, Cranbrook Observatory, and exploreLAB for interactive programs.

Lego Land Grades K-4
Mar. 26
A STEAM learning experience in a hands-on environment that increases student engagement.

The Wright Museum Grades K-1
Apr. 16
African-American museum of history and culture located in Detroit, Michigan.

Top Golf Grades 5-8
Apr. 30
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of golf and have an opportunity to practice their new skills.

Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad Grades K-8
May 7
A recreated turn-of-the-century town featuring 34 historic structures, the iconic Huckleberry Railroad, and traditional trades from skilled artisans.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Kindergarten Transitions/Buddy Visits
Buddy Visits allow preschool students and families to visit and engage with school staff and kindergarten students in elementary school classrooms. Each preschool student will have a kindergarten buddy, and the pair will be assigned common goals during the Buddy Visits.

Youth Advisory Council Grades K-6
Dates TBD
Students will learn about the roles for class representatives, run campaigns, hold elections, learn about self-governance, while helping to make decisions about programming and activities at their school.

Success Mentoring
During lunch periods M/W & Tu/Th
One-on-one mentoring for selected students twice per week, designed to improve attendance and academic performance.
