Munch & Move
Grades 6-8 Session 1 & 2
Students will eat supper and then participate in homework time and free time.

Reading Club
Grades 6-8 Session 1 & 2
This program helps students build strong literacy skills while promoting independent learning and critical thinking. It also fosters a love for reading, supports cultural awareness and empathy, and prepares students for long-term academic and career success.
Held: M, W 3:35-4:25 p.m.
Writing Club
Grades 6-8 Session 1 & 2
This program will guide students through the writing process from brainstorming to publishing while exploring genre, audience, format, characters, plot, setting, and careers available to writers.

Lion’s Leaders
Grades 6-8 Session 1 & 2
Our partner, 181 Teen Movement, uses challenging activities and personal evaluation as opportunities for growth, learning, and reflection. 181 Movement provides scholars with the necessary tools to become stronger with each challenge.

Money Matters
Grades 6-8 Session 1
Age-appropriate financial education in money management skills such as saving, budgeting, and making smart spending choices through interactive activities and real-life scenarios.

Cosmetology
Grades 6-8 Session 1
The middle school cosmetology club introduces students to basic hair styling, skincare, and nail art techniques in a creative afterschool environment.

Stemletics
Grades 6-8 Session 1
Children learn the concepts of science, technology, engineering, and math by applying them to athletics and sports statistics.
Held: Tu 4:25-5:15 p.m.
Theatre
Grades 6-8 Session 2
Theatre club gives students the chance to explore acting, improvisation, and stage skills in a fun afterschool setting. Students build confidence, teamwork, and creativity while preparing scenes or performances together.

Dance
Grades 6-8 Session 2
Heart of Worship Dance Studio offers instruction in ballet, liturgical dance, and hip-hop dance styles.
Held: W 4:25-5:15 p.m.
Music
Grades 6-8 Session 1 & 2
This afterschool club gives students the opportunity to explore all aspects of making music, including songwriting, rhythm, melody, and basic recording. Members will collaborate creatively, experiment with different styles, and develop their musical skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Lion’s Den
Grades 6-8 Session 1 & 2
Success coaches will offer STEAM-based clubs and activities that students will be able to choose from.

FIELD TRIPS
Mott Community College Visit
Mar. 20
Students will visit Mott Community College Southern Lakes Branch Center where they will tour the Occupational & Physical Therapy spaces, and the Law Enforcement Regional Training Academy. After lunch, they will participate in fun hands-on STEM activities.
Central Michigan University Visit
Apr. 17
We will be spending the day at Central Michigan University and participating in presentations, a walking campus tour, and lunch before returning to the school.
Zap Zone
May 7
Students will have an exciting experience at Zap Zone XL, enjoying activities such as laser tag, arcade games, and group challenges. This trip encourages teamwork, friendly competition, and fun in a safe, supervised environment.
Urban Air
June 4
Students will enjoy an exciting trip to Urban Air, where they can stay active while having fun on trampolines, obstacle courses, and other attractions. This experience promotes physical activity, teamwork, and positive social interaction in a safe, supervised
environment.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Success Mentoring
During lunch periods M/W & Tu/Th
One-on-one mentoring for selected students twice per week, designed to improve attendance and academic performance.

Youth Advisory Council/Student Council

Students will learn about the roles for class representatives, run campaigns, hold elections, learn about self-governance, while helping to make decisions about programming and activities at their school.
Makeovers with Mom
Mar. 12, May 7
Makeover with Moms is a school-family program that brings mothers and female family members into the school community through fun, confidence-building activities. It celebrates the important women in students’ lives while strengthening parent involvement and connection to the school.
Family Bowling Night
Apr. 23 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Families are invited to come out to B’s Bowling and show their family pride. Whether it be a chant, matching outfits, or a victory dance, the team with the best team spirit wins a prize! There will be food, fellowship, and fun!
Winter Ball
Apr. 23 5:30-7:00 p.m.
This winter-themed semi-formal dance brings families together for a magical evening of music, connection, and celebration. It fosters meaningful family bonding while creating warm memories in a festive, wintry atmosphere.
Summer Kick-Off Carnival
May 14 4:00-5:50 p.m.
This end-of-year carnival invites families to celebrate the close of the school year with games, activities, and festive fun. It strengthens school community connections while giving families a joyful way to reflect on achievements and welcome summer together.
